"Mittens for Montana Winter"

"Perfect for my needs."
Marty - The Bronx, New York
I have a bin chock full. Maybe everyone does. Mittens and gloves that look great when you read about them and buy them, but perform lousy over time. L.L. Bean, EMS, Eddie Bauer and a slew of others recommended by the folks at my local farmer's supply store. They rip, leak, wear out and aren't warm at all.
Not the Peaks mitts. These have been great this winter/early spring. Heavy wet snow, whipping winds. Roof raking, shoveling out paths and vehicles. Moving wood from the outer woodshed to the inside woodshed. Even taking walks through neighboring fields and by the lake, these mittens meet all my criteria. Winds and wetness do not penetrate. They hold up and have shown no signs of the fatigue my other mittens and gloves have displayed. I wear these EVERY day when I go outside and it's still snowing in April!
Rather, for the first time, my hands are not only comfortable, but warm without overheating. And while the loft does get compressed at times, thorough drying by the wood stove restores much of the vitality. I heartily recommend these!
I play, practice and compete in disc dog. I have not found a good solution when we play on cold days. Mittens and gloves can be clumsy and fingerless gloves end up with your distal fingers freezing because they handle cold, wet discs and then freeze waiting for the next throw. The Peaks Mitts are a perfect solution. First, they are warm, very warm and stay dry. Second, they are on and off quickly. So if I'm throwing one disc my hand can dry and warm by the time the disc comes back, And if we are doing sequencing, gloves are off in a nanosecond, I can throw and get them back on just as fast, giving my hands the time they need to dry and warm. And finally, they are indestructible. I love them. They are perfect for the way I use them.
Like the mitts a lot, super warm, and seem well-made. They do seem to run pretty big. I usually wear an XL glove, and that’s where the size chart put me, but these are almost on the edge of being too big.
Wrists too short and after one hour of being outside my hands were very cold.
Great mittens for serious cold. Both the shell and the lining work together to keep fingers warm. Great construction, and flexible!
